Critical Thinking: Critical Thinking is a general term. I believe this term means – students effectively identify, analyze, and evaluate content or skills. Culture vs Climate:  in my current reading and in leadership conversations, I hear and read leaders using Culture and Climate as the same meaning as it relates to schools. Although these two terms have similar characteristics, they express two separate concepts. Maybe it is just a pet peeve of mine after spending two years researching culture, but even so –  I feel it is important to clarify for aspiring or even sitting school leaders.  Click here to view the view video on thoughts. 

Google Classroom: Google Classroom streamlines assignments, boosts collaboration, and fosters seamless communication to make teaching more productive and meaningful. With Google Classroom, educators can create classes, distribute assignments, send feedback, and see everything in one place. Ignite is a presentation format where a presenter speaks while slides advance automatically to support the presentation. An Ignite presentation is exactly 5 minutes, and contains exactly 20 slides. The slides advance automatically after each slide is displayed for 15 seconds. Think about Enlighten audience, but make it quick. So presenters need to be on time with messages and ready to keep moving forward, because the slides are playing. So click here and see my Ignite on Active learning. You will see the presentation over my right shoulder and I will try to keep up. I know we talk about taking risks as educators and I wanted to take one today.  

Blended Learning: Without question, one of the keys to academic achievement is active learning. According to research –  personalized, collaborative, and connected learning experiences enhance student engagement, which in turn drives student success. Servant Leadership:  Click here to view talk on characteristics of servant leadership and explain why leaders can use these strategies to create a safe culture and promote blended learning. Servant leadership is about leaders displaying authenticity by being learners themselves. For our leaders to be learners in this paradigm shift it creates a collaboration in the building.  That collaboration will increase the openness of leaders to gather input from others.

Student leadership: One area of my professional work I am very motivated with is assisting aspirating leaders.  Today I am going to talk about student leaders and skills to become even better. I have read a lot of James Kouzes, John Wiley, and Barry Posner’s work on student leadership and my strategies and philosophy is guided by their research and work. Twitter in the classroom: The skills, knowledge and understanding that enables critical, creative, and safe practices when engaging with digital technologies in all areas of life.  We are trying in increase this style of learning and Twitter is one wonderful way.
